The Original started it all. Matt began making and giving away an early version of this beautiful edge-grain blend of hardwoods and exotic woods cutting board. Not only did the unexpected declarations of love from board recipients surprise him, but they also convinced him he was on to something big!
The Original is our most tried and true, tweaked, and perfected design. Both domestic and exotic hardwoods make up the original cutting board pattern. It is a substantial board with a striking array of alternating wood tones.
The Original is the perfect gift when you’re just not sure what to go with. It’s a great size, weight, and design that fits with any kitchen or food prep area. The cutting board pattern is made of colorful materials that will naturally darken over time. The change in color adds a unique blend of classic wood characters with popping exotic colors for an ideal cutting board.
This board uses many hardwoods, including South American Purple Heart and African Padauk. These two imported hardwoods will definitely have your friends and family in awe. This is a common question! For a simple engraving, we recommend one of four popular choices. (1) large initial or monogram (2) last name (3) wedding date or (4) longitude and latitude coordinates of a special place.
For a traditional monogram, with a larger center initial, follow the rules noted below.

Our wood charcuterie boards are treating with mineral oil. Mineral oil is 100% food safe and great for conditioning wood. You can also use coconut oil as an alternative to mineral oil. General care instructions are included with your order. We also have detailed instructions for wood cutting board and a video on our website.
Detailed board care instructions are listed on our website, along with a YouTube video for reference. But generally, our recommendations are: (1) wash both sides of the board with soap/water (2) stand the board on its edge overnight to dry, and (3) condition all sides with mineral oil. Easy as 1-2-3!
