We are actively seeking a Shipping & Showroom Associate to join our team!
SHIPPING & SHOWROOM ASSOCIATE
PART TIME POSITION: 4-5 hours/week (Jan-Oct); 5-10 hours/week (Nov-Dec)
Are you a task-oriented person who thrives on structure, organization and problem-solving? As the Shipping & Showroom Associate, you will play a key role in sending BirchBarn’s handcrafted products to customers all across the country.
The Shipping & Showroom Associate oversees the packaging and shipping of all retail orders. Duties include monitoring incoming orders, packaging items for shipment and maintaining accurate and proactive control of our onsite inventory. This person is also responsible for maintaining the overall appearance of our retail showroom in Scituate. These duties include organizing product displays, restocking inventory, and ordering office supplies as needed. The Shipping & Showroom Associate must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Critical thinking and problem solving are also very important in this role.
This is a part-time position, with a flexible schedule. The Shipping & Showroom Associate is able to determine their own consistent schedule. Due to the holiday rush, we anticipate an increase in hours from mid-November through December 24.

BirchBarn Designs is a homegrown, custom woodworking shop with an established retail line of products for the home - Chop, Serve, Drink, Live - as well as a custom woodworking business that designs and builds wood countertops, butcher block island tops, dining tables and other wood elements. We are a no stain shop. We love the way wood looks all on its own.
Located inside a 3000-sq. ft. space within a growing artisan guild in the Greenbush neighborhood of Scituate, BirchBarn has a loyal and growing client-base across greater Boston including such clients like The Boston Red Sox and Rockland Trust, and a growing client roster of architects, designers, builders and homeowners.

ROLE DETAILS
As the Shipping & Showroom Associate at BirchBarn, you will:
- Review daily sales receipts & correspond with Production Team regarding orders to ship
- Pull finished orders and pack all items in corresponding shipping boxes
- Process orders based on the preferred shipping system (e.g. USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.)
- Prepare, print and affix shipping labels to each package in preparation for shipment
- Contact carrier and schedule pick-up for all shipments on site at The Barn
- Track showroom inventory and report any shortages to both the Production & Sales Teams
- Maintain ongoing inventory of packaging products including labels, boxes, bubble wrap, etc.
- Proactively re-order packaging products on an as-needed basis
- Maintain a clean, well-organized and safe workspace for shipping
- Oversee regular maintenance of the retail showroom. Duties include restocking product displays, communicating with Production Team when showroom inventory is low and dusting/sweeping on a weekly basis.

PART TIME POSITION
- Approximately 4-5 hours/week January-October and 5-10 hours/week November-December
- Hours may increase at times to meet demand for retail sales
- The Shipper would set their own regular schedule.
