Time to Pivot

Time to Pivot

Most people don’t realize that wood is physically warm to the touch, especially when compared to a stone surface that is always cold…which is just one of the MANY reasons we love adding wood to your interior design. In this post, we dig in on a custom half-moon table designed to bring contrast into a MetroWest kitchen.

Okay guys - the holidays were a blast…but now it’s time to PIVOT. January is that time when we’re dying to rework our interior design. AmIright? First goes the  holiday decor…then comes the cleaning and dreaming of fresh designs.

In addition to reworking our own spaces, we’re over here making plans to visit client homes and photograph some of our favorite projects from 2025

And we’re especially pumped to photograph this half-moon rustic walnut kitchen table.

This table was meant to be a movable extension of their existing kitchen island which I think is so cool!

Matt worked hand-in-hand with the homeowner to design a table that would sit adjacent to the client’s waterfall stone island. As you can see, the straight side bumps right up to the countertop, and the curved side offers a warm and inviting area for entertaining.

And just look at that swirl in the grain! We chose RUSTIC walnut for this project, which meant there were lots of knots and voids to fill. The client picked black epoxy and we love how the black elements bring the grain’s depth to light.

One trend we are continually seeing is natural wood being paired with harder elements, like stone, granite or even concrete. Adding natural wood tones, like walnut or oak, can soften the utilitarian features of a traditional kitchen.

So peeps…we’re ready for your ideas! If you’ve been dreaming about a custom project, head to the link in our bio to fill out an intake form.

Even if you don’t know what type of lumber you want to use, it’s helpful to share what your space looks like and what design styles appeal to you. Inspo photos are a great way to kick off the conversation…so hit up our contact form  and let’s start designing your dream space.
