Comfort is an Aesthetic

Comfort via small talk and dessert for lunch on top of a swirly slab of oak.
By Jill Butterworth
At one of our recent photoshoots, Shelley and I felt a strong calling to style with cake and champagne. The star of the photoshoot was an L-shaped bar made of rustic white oak Matt made for a Marshfield client. The kitchen had a warm farmhouse aesthetic complete with chickens in the backyards and an equestrian mom. This was a kitchen that immediately said, 'pull up a chair and tell me all about your day.'

Keeping with the comfort theme, the countertop was designed with those who live inside in mind, choosing a rounded-edge for a high-traffic area, to soften the space and those moving around it.

Seems like a good time for more moments where we just feel comfort - in our gatherings, within our spaces. Wood has that ability to bring warmth into a space. As does cake, so we bought a super sweet red velvet one from the supermarket and put it on a Short Round Cutting Board, poured a little inexpensive Prosecco, and even though staged, it created instant joy. We all dug into the cake and a little of the bubbly on a cold, gray March day after getting the photos we needed (check out our IG for b-roll). The clients shared their excitement about an upcoming trip to Europe and how they missed their son who was away at college. Shelley shared workshop updates with the client. Just some small talk and dessert for lunch on top of a swirly slab of oak.
After a particularly harsh winter, comfort, fun, and gathering has to be on the menu this spring. We'll start the trend. This Saturday May 2 is the fourth annual Get2Greenbush Celebration. The party kicks off at 11 am. Our contribution at Ford Place will include live music by local band Good Sleeping Weather, Gozney Pizza Demos, mini manicures by Scituate Nails and Spa, a kids zone, a strong lineup of local artists, and open studios with our Ford Place neighbors Michael Coyne and Ian Garland Woodworking.

We've curated a collection of gifts for mom, will be offering special promotions and a raffle giveaway, and there will be tons of freshly-sanded and oiled boards from the workshop in some unique patterns.

We'll see you at the Barn!
