BirchBarn Designs products are skillfully crafted with longevity in mind. The durability of each product is our first priority, followed closely by functionality and stunning good looks. When properly treated, your BirchBarn Designs product should last for many years to come.

To maintain your board’s original luster, we strongly recommend applying mineral oil 5-7 times a year, or whenever your board looks dry. For end-grain and edge-grain boards, we also suggest applying a board conditioner 1-2 times a year, or more depending on the frequency of use. Click here to read our tips on proper board care.

BirchBarn Guarantee

We strive to produce only the highest quality wood products. All of BirchBarn Designs’ products are guaranteed against workmanship defects for 90 days after the purchase date. This guarantee includes splits in the board that are deeper than 1/8 inch and that appear along a glued seam. Please note, we will only guarantee products that have been properly maintained (using the above recommendations). If you feel there are workmanship defects in your BBD product, please email shelley@birchbarndesigns.com.

Unfortunately, the following conditions are not covered under our guarantee policy:

  • Discoloration of the wood;
  • Warping of the wood;
  • Splits within the grain of the wood;
  • Splits less than 1/8 inch deep along a glued seam.

Please keep in mind, wood is a natural material that can shift slightly due to minor changes in humidity levels and other environmental conditions. We have witnessed newly crafted cutting boards go from completely flat to slightly cupped in as little as one day. But good news, this movement is completely common and should self-correct soon enough. Please contact us if you are concerned about any changes in your BBD product.

Returns

We will gladly accept returns on non-customized orders within 30 days of purchase. To request a refund, email shelley@birchbarndesigns.com to coordinate the return. Please note, you must be able to show proof of purchase to receive a refund. Customers without proof of purchase will be given store credit.

Customers are responsible for returning the item(s), including insurance if shipped, to BirchBarn Designs (79 Captain Peirce Rd., Scituate, MA 02066). Refunds will not include original shipping charges. We reserve the right to not accept a return and may charge a re-stocking or repair fee if the item has been used or is damaged.

Due the nature of customized orders, we are not able to accept returns or exchanges on personalized products.

Order & Shipping Timeline

Since each of our products are custom made, please allow 7-10 business days to fulfill your order (prior to shipping). If there are any delays in this timeline, we will notify you immediately. Our standard shipping method is USPS Priority Mail. If special arrangements are needed, please let us know in the comments section as you order. An estimated shipping cost can be calculated in your cart, prior to checkout.

We also offer local pick-up in Scituate, MA. To request local pick-up, select this option at checkout and we will contact you to schedule a date/time for pick-up. Local pick-ups typically take place Monday-Friday between 9a-6p at our workshop (79 Captain Peirce Rd., Scituate, MA). You may also request a pick-up at any of our scheduled markets.
